Individual/Family Counseling
The focus of my practice is working with people ages birth through college as well as people with developmental disabilities of all ages. I also specialize in people of all ages who have experienced trauma. I frequently work with people who have anxiety, depression, mood dysregulation and stress related symptoms.
Early Intervention Consultation
With a Master's degree in Special education, certification in autism and early intervention services, I can assist in providing ideas for teachers and parents in managing behaviors and other concerns related to social/emotional development.
Parenting Support
All families need support. Parenting is the most important and yet hardest job of all. We can work together to help your family be the best it can be.
Workshops
I have experience providing workshops to community organizations, schools and parenting groups. I can provide learning opportunities on a variety of mental health topics
My Approach
I focus my work on the needs of each individual. Science shows there is a strong connection between our mind and body. With this understanding, I incorporate a variety of therapeutic approaches to help clients reach their desired goals. I use Play Therapy to help children and teens make sense of their emotions. I also use Cognitive Behavior Therapy to provide clients with tools to help when they need to navigate through big feelings. I integrate breath and movement into sessions to assist clients in understanding the connections between emotional health and physical well being.
About me
I have two Master's Degrees: one in Counseling and one in Special Education. I also have a certification in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health and Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) . I have been in private practice serving clients with mental health needs since 2002. My other experiences include being a preschool special education teacher and an elementary school counselor.
In my free time I enjoy baking, reading, doing yoga and spending time with my husband, three children and dog.
